There’s nothing like a warm apple crumble to bring comfort to your kitchen and adding pure Ceylon cinnamon powder takes it to a whole new level. Known as “true cinnamon,” Ceylon cinnamon offers a delicate, sweet aroma and subtle spicy notes that perfectly complement the natural sweetness of baked apples.
This recipe is quick, easy, and a favourite across UK households. It’s a wonderful way to showcase the flavour and quality of genuine Ceylon cinnamon, freshly ground from the heart of Sri Lanka.
6 large apples (such as Bramley or Cox’s Orange Pippin), peeled, cored, and sliced
2 tsp Eden Spice Ceylon cinnamon powder
100g caster sugar
150g plain flour
100g unsalted butter, cold and cubed
75g rolled oats
Pinch of salt
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan).
In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with 1 tsp of Ceylon cinnamon powder and 50g of caster sugar. Spread the apples evenly in a baking dish.
In another bowl, combine the flour, oats, remaining sugar, salt, and 1 tsp of cinnamon powder. Rub in the cold butter with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
Bake for 35–40 minutes or until the topping is golden and the apples are bubbling.
Serve warm, ideally with custard or cream, and enjoy the rich aroma of Ceylon cinnamon in every bite.
Why Use Ceylon Cinnamon?
Unlike common cassia cinnamon, Ceylon cinnamon has a lighter, more refined flavour with natural sweetness and subtle citrus hints. It’s prized for its purity and is a healthier choice for everyday cooking and baking.
Using Eden Spice’s authentic Ceylon cinnamon powder ensures you get the freshest, most aromatic spice, directly sourced from Sri Lanka.
